Tinnitus Relief: De-sounding the Anomaly

Tinnitus is a medical condition in which a person perceives sounds with the absence of an external stimulus. It is caused by a medical anomaly and is not classified as a disease itself. Tinnitus can interfere with a sufferer’s daily activities and badly affect their feelings of holistic wellness.

The etiologies of tinnitus are mostly physical. Only a few facts would associate the condition to psychological anomalies like stress. Objective tinnitus originates from internal causes such as muscle spasms or collisions of internal structures due to structural abnormalities. It can also be caused by intracranial tumors and aneurysms. Meanwhile, subjective tinnitus is caused by otological disorders that are likely to result in impaired hearing.

Effective non-medical remedies do not just relieve the tinnitus symptoms themselves but also prevent heightening of the condition. A person who experiences tinnitus should not be exposed to loud and lengthy auditory stimuli. Earplugs play a vital role with affected persons as they are exposed to noisy environments. Medications, especially over-the-counter drugs, should be checked for their potency to be ototoxic. Physicians should be consulted for these kinds of drugs to prevent overdoses that would exceed ototoxicity thresholds.

Extraction of earwax plugs is a very common form of treatment for children suffering from tinnitus. Diazepam, which is a benzodizepine commonly used for seizures, is sometimes given as a muscle relaxant to cease muscular spams in the auditory systems.

In cases where the tinnitus conditions are very disturbing, patients may be given Lidocaine. This type of intervention though, only brings about short-term relief.

Unusual serotonin activity can also cause or aggravate tinnitus. In these cases, sertraline, which is an antidepressive drug, is sometimes prescribed.

Low-pitched sound therapy is used in some clinics. In addition to auditory stimuli usage, auditive destimulation therapy utilizes a patient's natural musical preferences, causing some tones to equalize frequencies of the tinnitus. In some clinics though, the use of music therapy is still practiced.

Of course, the best treatment for those who are not yet affected with tinnitus is preventive care. Avoid the causes to avoid the disease. However, for those who are already suffering from it, there is some very good news. A new type of tinnitus treatment has been developed and clinically proven to be successful with all known types of tinnitus. It involves a simple, but comprehensive, 5-step method that has helped thousands of men and women eliminate tinnitus completely within 8 weeks.
