Tinnitus Cause and Prevention

Tinnitus, or an abnormal ringing perceived in one or both ears, is more of a symptom rather than a physiologic anomaly. The attack can be continuous or intemittent depending on the underlying cause. Tinnitus can be classified either as ‘subjective’ or ‘objective’ in nature. I n subjective tinnitus, there is no auditory stimulus.

The underlying causes of tinnitus frequently derive from physical and structural ear problems. Subjective tinnitus causes generally originate from otological disorders or those likely to cause impaired sense of hearing. Commonly, the condition is caused by extremely loud noises at rock concerts, construction areas, and factories with loud machines.

Subjective tinnitus can also be drug-induced. Some drugs, whether over-the-counter or via prescription, are considered ‘ototoxic’; others induce auditory disorders upon reaching a threshold secondary to overdose. Some tuberculosis drugs or even ordinary Aspirin can render this adverse effect. Benzodiazepine, which is a muscle relaxant used to prevent seizures, can also cause tinnitus if suddely withdrawn. If this occurs, drug therapy should be resumed (under a physician’s guidance) and then gradually withdrawn to prevent muscular spasms that induce tinnitus.

Infections, such as otitis media and mastoiditis are also tinnitus causes. Antibiotics are given to treat these diseases. In some cases, tinnitus can be a degenerative symptom that arises as a person grows old and is sometimes inevitable. In children, earwax impaction is a very common tinnitus cause since it produces obstruction in the auditory canal. Extraction of the obstructions can be done in clinics.

Neurologic disorders such as space occupying lesions and multiple sclerosis can also be tinnitus causes. That is why an extensive physical assessment needs to be done (in some cases) as the primary causes are sometimes hidden.

Objective tinnitus is a condition in which the source of the stimuli is internal. It can be due to muscle spasms caused by benzodiazepine withdrawal or the collision of different internal organs that may induce clicking or buzzing sounds. Neurologic orders may also cause this. Cranial bruits or aneurysms for example are common causes.

Of course, the best treatment for those who are not yet affected with tinnitus is preventive care. Avoid the causes to avoid the disease. However, for those who are already suffering from it, there is some very good news. A new type of tinnitus treatment has been developed and clinically proven to be successful with all known types of tinnitus. It involves a simple, but comprehensive, 5-step method that has helped thousands of men and women eliminate tinnitus completely within 8 weeks.

Treatment Review by Diana Piloni (Indiana, USA)

I accidently stumbled upon your website and have found the step-by-step holistic approach to be extremely helpful. In less

than 3 weeks, the constant ringing has completely gone. I now

live a normal life without the horrible sounds that used to

drive me crazy.

I had tried almost every method known to man prior to starting your program but to no avail. Other guides on the subject gave me no hope either. God bless you!
